Resveratrol, Oleic Acid.. both Sirt 1 activators?

Post by TedB » Mon Jun 07, 2021 5:33 pm

I am not 100% sure what SIRT1 activators do..

Do they repair DNA?

Are Resveratrol and Oleic Acid SIRT1 activators only?

I know of three supplements and/or processes, four if you count fasting, things activating a  Sirtuin.

in addition to Resveratrol and Oleic Acid, there is Pterostilbene.

I hope I have successfully added an image showing what the various Sirtuins can do for our cells.

Also from the same entry:

"...supplementation with a molecule called nicotinamide mononucleotide (NMN) that increases NAD+ levels in aged rodents has been touted as a sirtuin activator with anti-aging properties."

So, essentially NMN, among other things boosts NAD+ and functions as a sirtuin activator.

As a layperson,
SIRTs can boost insulin resistance, repair mitochrondrial dna, nuclear dna, assist with metabolism and reduce inflammation.

So these are life extending and life preserving functions.
