NMN, NR, and NAD+ all have similar effects in many situations, but also have some differences in stability, uptake, and affinity for different tissues. Unfortunately, there have been few direct comparisons in research.
There is some research that shows NAD+ may cross the blood brain barrier, while NMN and NR do not (1). NR has shown benefits for Fatty Liver Disease (2) in humans and may be most effective for liver function. There is also research showing impressive results for endurance and blood vessel growth in muscle with NMN which have not yet been duplicated for NR or NAD (3).
Bioavailability Issues
Research is clear that NAD+ and it’s precursors are almost entirely degraded to the less effective Nicotinamide (NAM) in the stomach, intestines and liver (1,2,3,4,5)
- Digested by bacteria in stomach
- Digested by enzymes in intestines
- Metabolized to NAM in Liver
- NR quickly degraded in bloodstream
Liposomes are the solution.
(more about bioavailability issues for NAD+ precursors)
Liposomes
Liposomes are a revolutionary way of encapsulating active ingredients to protect and deliver them directly to the cells of our tissues, which are reached via the bloodstream.
They are specialized delivery vehicles serving multiple roles in enhancing the capabilities of active ingredients.
Liposomes stabilize therapeutic compounds—overcoming obstacles to cellular and tissue uptake—and improve the biodistribution of compounds to target sites.
Powder-based Liposomes
LIPO NAD+ encapsulates nanosized NR particles in Liposomes, which are then freeze-dried to remove the aqueous phase.
Our unique powder-based encapsulation ensures maximum bio-availability and stability, protecting the bio-active ingredients against degradation.
This encapsulation technology is clinically proven through safety, absorption and blood glucose studies to maximize nutrient bioavailability. (8)
A peak particle size of less than 50 nm (nanometers) ensures the maximum bioavailability and stability.
The advanced liposomes retain the core structure of the liposomal bilayer in its powder form, which stabilizes NAD+ and ensures maximum bioefficiency, potency and absorption.
We use natural non-hydrogenated sunflower phosphatidylcholine in our manufacturing process, derived from non-GMO certified sunflower oil from Europe. It undergoes a multi-step, purification and filtration process during liposome manufacturing to ensure the utmost purity.
